Improved Content Flow and Navigation Design
The Boulevard Room was already running WordPress but needed an upgrade to both the content architecture and the look and feel of the website. Since both The Avenue Banquet Hall and The Boulevard Room are owned and operated by the same people and are located at the same address, I felt the two sites should be visually related, but at the same time not just be copies of one another. The two sites share a design style, but have different colour schemes, and content styling. By completing a ReStyle Existing WordPress package we were able to identify the areas of the site that needed to match up the needs of site visitors, and add pages and content accordingly.
The original website had a large carousel with 5 slides on the home page that was taking up a lot of screen real estate without providing much value. It also had a "Click to Begin" button that didn't lead anywhere - it just scrolled down to below the carousel.
But removing this element and instead placing simple, easy to interact with content areas that addressed the same 5 ideas that were in the carousel created a much more user-friendly experience.
Like the other site that was created for The Avenue Banquet Hall, a page for one of the most important areas of the business, the catering menus, was added to help users quickly review options. This "menu of menus" is where they can easily see in one place all the meal options, with pricing, and access the individual pages for each menu with ease. The new menu page was also organized into the 3 categories - Signature, Global and Kosher - to better help users find the type of catering options that fit their needs.
We also created a simple yet sophisticated colour scheme for the brand, improved typography and made pages much easier to scan and understand using headlines and better content layout.
