THE BEACHES

Officially, it’s “The Beach”. But colloquially, it is and always will be “The Beaches” – which is more accurate if you ask me, since there are 3 beaches in this stretch of the Toronto waterfront – Woodbine Beach, Kew Beach and Balmy Beach.

No matter what you call it, it’s one of the must-see areas in Toronto.

At the east end of the beaches area you will find one of the most beautiful buildings in the area, the R.C. Harris water treatment plant.

The exterior grounds of the art deco style buildings are open to the public year round. Interior access is only available during the Toronto Doors Open weekend and is always one of the most popular spots of the event.

For the last few years an art installation project called Winter Stations has been bringing visitors to the area at one of the least beach-y times of the year.
